SUSTAINABLE TOURISM DEVELOPMENT FOR LIVELIHOOD IMPROVEMENT IN SEVERAL DESTINATIONS ACROSS INDIA
Phase 1 (completed): Destination Selection Framework and Phased Roadmap Development
Phase 2 (ongoing): Development Strategies for 2 Destinations + Formulation of a Regional Destination Management Function
Currently in the second phase of the project, RoadsWellTraveled is developing detailed site-specific destination development strategies for two destinations, as well as formulating a regional destination management function. In the previous phase, RoadsWellTraveled was engaged by the client to develop a framework for selecting destinations from a pool of locations spread across India, leading to a recommendation of candidates for tourism development. Informed by consultations with stakeholders, private sector, and government entities, an assessment of the tourism potential, and a situation analysis of tourism in all locations, the study suggested a phased roadmap for tourism development for selected destinations.
