I'm not sure why Scandinavia had never been on my travel wishlist. I haven't heard of many wanting to go there either. Is it because there's little travel literature spent on it, or that there's a lack of vibrance to lure most travelers' eyes? Does Scandinavia not paint a picture of mystique through its history? Was there no strife in these lands, the stories of which can be told to curious ears? Or do the countries not seem like challenging enough rabbit holes, coming out of which is a feat to tell the grandkids about? Maybe these countries just present themselves as daunting, distant and unattainable.
But Norway was anything but.
I loved it. I loved it because it was easy despite the harsh conditions. There was enough warmth as there was cold (isn't this picture enough testimony for that?) I loved it because everything worked, without the stress that comes along with a well-functioning machine. And boy, is there so much more there than just the northern lights. That landscape is enough.
